Swiss Wrestling is a traditional sport as old as the Swiss Confederation. The sport has been standardize in the 18th century. Every 3 years there is a national championship, the next one will be this weekend 30-31 August 2025 in Glarus. The winner will be the king of Schwingen for the next 3 years and will win a bull, a real one. Most competitors are farmers or work in the agriculture field.
Fighters will train year around every week to be ready to compete. Every year there are approximately between 30 and 50 competitions.
The most beautiful one are in Brünig, Schwägalp, Adelboden, Burgdorf.
